Hello and welcome to the Brew and the Bees!
I've been curious about blogging for a couple of years now. And, frankly, I still don't really know what it is. But here I am, writing some nonsense, thinking that the world might be interested.
This year I've embarked on a couple of adventures and I think they're worth sharing. I've enjoyed talking to people about my two new hobbies - beer brewing and bee keeping. So why not blog about it?! And the stories (with visuals!) I have to share, about the beekeeping, in particular, are pretty incredible. However, I'm not quite ready to go into my whole story yet, so the one or two people reading this will have to wait for the details.
This week I decided that I would start a blog. To me this a scarier venture than bee keeping and certainly brewing (other than waiting for the beer to mature, brewing is pure fun! Mmm beer!). I'm a pretty quiet guy, as most of you reading this will know, and writing doesn't come easily to me. Yup. putting myself out there like this is scary. Well, Today's supreme court decisions prompted me to jump into it. In a sense, they inspired me and gave me courage. Not that my blog, it's themes and ideas, are on the same level as civil rights for all. But it is my story to tell. There are so many great stories happening right now and being told (maybe via a blog) - how can I not want to be a part of that! I caught a fever and felt that today had to be the day I started my blog!
So here I go! I hope you'll enjoy it and maybe get inspired to brew beer, keep bees, or undertake some other hobby new to you. Or maybe you're an expert, and you can help me with some sage advice. Lord knows I can use it! Just yesterday one of my hives swarmed! I know I did something wrong, but I haven't figured out what yet.
Photos, videos and more to follow....

Wow! Count us in on blog followers. So that makes two of us right there! Here's our sage advice... don't take the swarming personally just because an entire community up and left you. Some relationships just weren't meant to be (bee).

Thanks for joining me! And thanks for your advice. The bees are helping me with my interspecies social skills. Hopefully they'll teach me not to repeat whatever offense led to their mass defection from The Garden. I think we all have much to learn from the honey bee!
DeleteThat just shows what you know! An ENTIRE community didn't leave! Just half. No exageratating please. I am just an admiring observer of the hive experiment but I have LOVED living and learning with these bees! (Janet, did you ever think I would WANT to be near bees?)
ReplyDeleteI admire your courage Chester! You know I consider myself a wordsmith and yet I have feared to leap into the adventure you now undertake in your blogging. I think I would be easier standing in a swarm of your bees!
